"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", or so they say, and we are firm believers in that adage. Our preventative care plans are taylored to meet the needs of each individual pet. To that end, we will discuss at least once yearly wellness exams; flea and tick preventatives; and pet-appropriate screening tests that may include blood work, urine tests, fecal tests to check for parasites, and heartworm testing. Recommendations for dental care, nutrition counselling, and behavior may also be addressed.
URGENT AND UNWELL PET CARE
Even with consistent preventative care, illness and injury can still happen. We provide comprehensive diagnostic testing as well as care that may include hospitalization, emergency surgery, pain control, fluid therapy, injectable medications, and extensive patient monitoring. We provide detailed treatment plans and educational materials, involving you--the most important member of your pet's healthcare team--in every decision.
We are all very aware of how important it is to take care of our own teeth, but it is equally important for us to make certain that our pets' mouths stay healthy. We offer dental care that includes all the anesthetic precautions taken for a surgical procedure so that an oral examination with dental radiographs can be performed. That is followed by scaling and polishing the teeth, as well as removing any teeth that are too unhealthy to save. In addition we will discuss what options you have for keeping your pet's mouth healthy at home.
We perform many general surgeries, utilizing both a surgical laser and electrocautery when appropriate. Since the most dangerous aspect of surgery is anesthesia, we employ a number of precautions to ensure that your pet's procedure is as safe as possible. This includes a pre-anesthetic exam, typically with blood work; intravenous fluid therapy for procedures lasting longer than a few minutes; and continuous monitoring of your pet both during and after the procedure.

As members of your pet's health care team, one of the most frustrating situations we can find ourselves in is trying to make your pet well without knowing exactly what is going on. We provide a number of diagnostic services, including in-house blood and urine testing, radiographs, tonometry, and ultrasound. We also work with outside laboratories and can consult with experts on your pet's behalf. Our diagnostic tests are priced to make them as affordable as possible, allowing us to provide the best care that we can within your budget.
SECOND OPINION CONSULTATIONS
There are times when your pet's primary health care provider will recommend a referral to a specialist, or you yourself decide that you would like to seek a second opinion. It is not always possible for owners to travel to a specialty institution. Although we are not specialists, we are able to offer some services that other clinics may not, and do routinely consult with specialists on cases. In addition, we are happy to provide complete reports to primary care veterinarians and collaborate with them to ensure continuity in your pet's care.
Dr. Dane Jespersen has extensive experience with small animal reproductive care, including pre-breeding consultations, timing of breeding, semen collection and assessment, artificial insemination, pregnancy ultrasound, and Cesarean sections.
